[Derby] What a Gambling App Knows About You
I realize that the Derby List is a horse lover's and handicapper's forum, not a gambling forum, but this article must surely interest those of us who watch racing on TVG and are perhaps getting weary of its constant pleading to download the TVG app. What a Gambling App Knows About You - The New York Times (https://www.nytimes.com/2021/03/24/technology/gambling-apps-tracking.html?action=click&module=Top%20Stories&pgtype=Homepage) TVG is a division of Betfair, owned by the massive British gaming conglomerate "Flutter"--named, I guess, for what your heart does on those rare occasions when your horse finishes first, or more often your AWD account drops to zero again. Embedded in the Times account of a British bettor who played his way to financial ruin on the Flutter app he'd installed on his phone is Flutter's annual report for 2020 (https://www.flutter.com/sites/paddy-power-betfair/files/Annual%20reports/annual-report-and-accounts-2020.pdf). If you weren't already persuaded that as a horse player you are essentially a "mark" waiting to be fleeced, the article and annual report will put the matter in a clearer light.
