CivRes states:

>"The "Proof of Income" validation Dave Robinson was asked to provide after attempting to >wager on Ascot is even more extensive than the one in Melania's prenup."

Unfortunately, CivRes has slightly misinterpreted my post. The Tote request for information is real, but was not sent to me. I merely provided it as an example of the type of communication that bettors in the UK are beginning to receive from their bookmaker. More serious, however, is his error in comparing it to Melania's prenup, when it is in fact based on Megan's. I'm happy to clear that up!

CivRes asks:

>"Dave—would you have had to complete this form if you'd actually placed a winning bet at any time in the last year?"

This is a good question. As we have seen, a bookmaker could ask you for this information based on your history of making deposits. In essence, they are attempting to convince the Gambling Commission in the UK that money is not being laundered and/or that the account holder is not gambling beyond their means. Failure to do this could lead to the Gambling Commision suspending the bookmaker's licence. Of course, a bookmaker could use this obligation as an excuse to snoop on their customers.

CivRes is also on the right track about withdrawals. A bettor could deposit £100, win £1K on their very first bet, and seek to make a cash withdrawal straight away. In such a case, they would almost certainly be asked for a great deal of personal information before the bookmaker released the money to them.

Finally, CivRes asks:

"And how on earth is someone with that track record leading Terry Bjork's 2021 Derby contest by a gazillion bucks?"

This is the sort of petty personal attack that has spurred me on this year to grind your American faces into the dirt by winning the contest by at least 100K. You have been warned!

Ever helpful

Dave
