Re: [Derby] Defections of Caddo River and Mandaloun

I did not have MS on any of my tickets, even under in my vertical bets. My reasoning, not Baffert's first string, late pacefigures not overly impressive. And he raced on (2) surfaces, Los & SA. The races @ SA, a  track under scrutiny for it's equine fatalities was being tweaked for safety and was producing realistically slow times. I move toward horses who finish in the 1st and 3rd legs of the TC more so than the middle jewel even on the front or near. But this tidbit that I missed came from Moss or Bailey prior to the race, and the reasoning why Johnny V put him on the engine.( And it right in front of me, (us). No one had ever passed this horse in his previous races. (5) Record 5  2-3-0. He chased arguably Baffert's best on two occasions and a legit winner in his last. Probably his best. Now folks here's Baffert under the microscope for positives and who willingly used Anabolic Steroids when legal. No meds on this horse from the begining and say what you will a great plan going in that worked with the know how from a barn that revolves around the TC. This pace is legit for a Ky Derby. Yes you need the horse to win this race, but this well could be Bob's finest hour. Even with two TC winners under his belt. A 1k sale, then 35k. With one of my fav's as a grandsire. From my perspective, one where I dropped the ball and hats off to this barn for this one, for sure. Crop might not be stellar (still early) but I think a very deserving winner of the Derby with teamwork, this wins em' more than not. Knowing your horse.
On the TC, it has been run differently in the past. Distances, order, but it's supposed to be hard for horse and trainer and jockey and the "team" to get it done. I suppose it will change, I hope not, it is unique and wonderfully fun to follow these young horses through their journey. For prosperity of the Sport, leave it alone. If anything about this series that I think everyone would like to see is more longevity from those who participate. Which one could use against the way it is run.
Every horse who wins the TC is the best of his generation. Some beat horses who would win one of those races if born in a different year. Others beat questionable foes. Recent horses from the same trainer, AP, much the best. Justify, beat a questionable crop, while winning it uniquely. JMHO, should MS win it, while not Baffert's best horse, his best accomplishment.
ABTW, if you cashed here, bravo!!!!
The SA Derby has produced (7) of the last 10 winners of the Derby.
On to Baltimore!

It was only 3 years ago that Justify won the Triple Crown and 3 years
before him that American Pharoah did the same.
All that is needed is the Right Horse.  There is No Problem with the
spacing of the TC!  The breed hasn't disintegrated that much in 3 years.
We've just had a crop this year of mediocre horses!
