“Just google 'baffert and thyroid meds'”

We have had this discussion before. There are different levels of drug abuse in this game. Some of it is accepted and some is not. The categories are trainers who use illegal drugs to enhance performance and the other class is trainers who use legal drugs to enhance performance. The latter category is accepted and commonplace. Pretty much all of the trainers fall into the second category.

As an example nearly a 100% of the trainers use Lasix irrespective of whether the horse needs or not. Then this spills over the many other drugs like the thyroid drugs. Trainers think it helps the horses and the vets prescribe it whether or not the horse needs it. Baffert wasn’t the only trainer doing this. Don’t get me wrong. I blame Baffert. But, I blame the system the allows this to happen on a regular basis.
