[Derby] Pennsylvania: Here we go again

-----Original Message-----
From: Terry Bjork via Derby <derby@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

Thoroughbred Daily News is reporting that raids on the backside of Parx as well as out of competition tests turned up all sorts of contraband substances and paraphernalia "that have no business on the backside". In possibly related news, a bunch of horses suddenly were scratched from Parx races.

At least one bright spot in this ongoing series of horsemen scandals at Pennsylvania racetracks: The State of Pennsylvania (and the reacetracks?) seems to be proactively going after the bad guys, so good for them.

And note to horsemen: Keep screwing this up and those casinos are eventually going to get you cut out of that business model for continually stinking up their casino names as far as gambling integrity.

Everything we write or read here is screaming "oversite board" and were getting it via the Fed in June of 2022.It should do nothing but help the game. Long  overdue..
The Casino $ here in Pa will be drying up sooner than later. Our Governor has been calling for this dough to move elsewhere. And I'm sure it's going to on the basis, that it's been going on for 13 years and that's enough.. I'd bet on it. Pa horseman say it will be a death nail for Pa Racing. We will see.
Interesting read about Linda Rice trying to get access to the entries  in a race to get an edge on placing her horses. So it's not just drugs to get an edge where the long arm is looking. Drugs, buzzers and such is also abuse and it needsto stop and real punishment needs to be dealt out.
I for one believe that a fairer game will mean a better handle.
Will Arlington Park be saved, or is the end really a foregone conclusion?
Chuck
