Alydar, after a grueling triple crown run, clobbered older horses in the 1978 Whitney stakes.

Alydar - 1978 Whitney Stakes
The terrific Alydar draws clear to win at Saratoga.

The interior fractions of the 1978 Whitney were 23-3, 46-3, 110-2.
Alydar came back 14 days later at the Spa to compete in the Travers Stakes.
White Abarrio, coming off a 56 day layoff , ran the race of his life in a romping victory in the 2023 Whitney Stakes.
The interior fractions of that Whitney were 24-2, 48-1, 111-4.
White Abarrio is slated to race next in the Breeders Cup Classic Nov 4th; 90 days hence.
During Saratoga's lost Whitney weekend roughly a dozen horses either died, were mangled, were pulled up,
were eased, were geared down or in the case of Sundays 1st were involved in a boat race.
I believe that bettors should be refunded for all non-performers. Betting has become extremely competitive and this non-performer
refund would give Saratoga a decided edge.
In over 85% of all crash and die breakdowns, the thoroughbred racer had a pre-existing condition.
Yet, several days have past since three sudden deaths of thoroughbred racers @ Saratoga and I haven't
seen these words in print: pre-existing condition. Nor have I seen the names of the vets
who cared for the three or have they been interviewed. Trainer Motion's horse called Frivole couldn't
complete the course in the 4th race Sunday and was vanned off. Motion told the DRF that Frivole was returned to her stall but
the DRF never contacted the examining vet. Why are they hiding? The video
replays of the races of death were pulled down from youtube. The same force that darkens the
flow of info is the force that controls Cornell.
There's an old racetrack saying: "Dead horses don't eat, we do"
