Re: [Derby] Yesterday's TDN Headlines
The industry seems to get a "wake-up call" about every six months. Most recently the deaths at Santa Anita. Before that, the big dope busts at Pennsylvania tracks. Before that, threatened Federal intervention in horse racing. Before that, all the doping busts in quarterhorse racing. Etc etc. But people keep right on sleeping anyhow. Ya think? << _______________________________________________ As the bears are waking early due to climate change. Racing needs to wake this time or it could be the end. Federal intervention from all levels, rules, regs and testing is long overdue to racing "sleeping." As this incident in particular has come during the lead up to the Derby with a horse involved in a Derby DQ and then winning the richest race in the world the following year. The World along with the sports World is watching. It's time for racing in all jurisdictions, quarters, thoroughbred, standardbred, steeplechase, Arabian and show to start taking the doping of these animals very seriously or they could disappear. Quiet simply it is abuse. And for I don't know how many times now that I have said this, a universal way of policing this sport across State lines from every rule and reg that makes sense and helps the sport not only survive but move forward. It is time for all of racing to wake f@*(&^g up.
