Re: [Derby] Baffert
Story from Horse Racing Nation a friend posted on another site has Baffert blaming (possibly) an anti-fungal. Says they just discovered it contained betamethasone as an ingredient. Isn't knowing what's in stuff you put in/on horses supposed to be part and parcel of trainer responsibility? But the most interesting quote from Bob in the story, at least to me, was at the very end: "Medina Spirit earned his Kentucky Derby win, and my pharmacologists have told me that 21 picograms of betamethasone would have had no effect on the outcome of the race." So from that can we conclude that a) Baffert apparently employs pharmacologists (plural), and b) they know exactly what does and does not affect the outcome of horse races? Wow big league horse racing is surely its own animal. "Pharmacologist Pharmacologists are knowledgeable professionals who focus their work into researching and understanding the chemical processes that take place between living organisms and different substances and compounds. The main purpose of a Pharmacologist is to create, develop, and test new medications." https://www.horseracingnation.com/news/Baffert_Betamethasone_might_have_come_from_anti_fungal_treatment_123 _______________________________________________ Derby mailing list Posting: Derby at lists.derbylist.com Sub/Unsub: http://lists.derbylist.com/listinfo.cgi/derby-derbylist.com
